I saw a notification from the computer that it blocked Audacity from accessing a file. So after giving Audacity file access everything seems fine now.
That's interesting.
What was blocking Audacity from accessing the file? (Where / how did you give Audacity file access?)

Re: New file placement behaviour in Version 3

Is this a bug or intentional? I'm not certain but I suspect it is intentional. There are pros and cons to the new behaviour. You have discovered the "con", but fortunately it is very easy to workaround. But when I convert the files from Folder 2, Audacity moves the created files in the &q...

Re: How to find dropouts <0.1second

As you can see, the example is shorter than the minimum 0.1 seconds allowed for by silence finder. Is there any way to scan an hour's worth of music for this type of dropout? Update Audacity to version 3.0.0 (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/) In the new version, "Sound Finder&quo...

Re: Noise floor too low process?

I agree that, ideally, mkagle should work towards getting an answer to why his audio had problems at the outset, but after reading his original post and his continued attempts to fix the problem, it sounded like he was just looking for a way to to add a very faint background noise on this particula...

I will try to install a slightly older Audacity version
Perhaps also worth trying a newer Audacity version. Audacity 3.0.0 is now available: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/

It creates a left and right mono track.
Earlier versions of Audacity also do that.

I am needing both left and right into a single mono track.
To do that you need to "mix stereo to mono". See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tra ... u_mix.html

Re: Noise floor too low process?

It might be a very good idea to work out why the problem occurred so that it can be avoided in future rather than just papering over the cracks. It's easy to fool the ACX robot algorithm, but much harder to fool the human review that comes later, so "faking" a high quality recording could ...

The settings are stored in a folder called audacity in the >Appdata>Roaming folder in your user directory.
Does that hold true on the update to 3.0.0?
Yes.

It found 230 in an 18 minute chapter.
Did you use the Noise Gate effect? That's an effect that ACX say not to use (because it creates these "gaps" in the sound).

How long does that take?
Unfortunately we can't answer that, it depends on Outlook. If they were really on the ball they would have cleared it already, but obviously they haven't.
