Re: Lost Data! Pls Send Halp!
As I recall in previous testing, some 64-bit Linux kernels seemingly do let you store more than 2 GB RAM for Nyquist per Audacity application. That seems to be so, and is a pleasant surprise. Testing Noise Gate on 32-bit Debian with Audacity 2.1.3, Audacity crashes when memory use exceeds 2 GB. It ...

Re: Problem with large recording
I'm guessing that you exported the recording in WAV format. A limitation of the format is that WAV files cannot be bigger than 4GB or they become corrupted and non-recoverable. If you still have the Audacity project, export in a different format such as FLAC, MP3 or OGG, or export the project in sec...

Did you try playing the recording on your Mac?

Re: Strange behavoir when saving audio file
Audacity saves the audio data in small chunks ("block files"), each with an "AU" file extension. During recording, by default there should be one new "AU" file every 6 seconds or so. Avoid having your file manager open while recording. With so many data files there can ...

Re: need speed
can we continue this here Here is best for me. Jack should already be installed unless you built Audacity from the source code without Jack support. Jack is normally a dependency. By default it does not start on log-in, so you need to start it manually (can be scripted later when everything is runn...

Re: All recordings play back a semi tone low
I've noticed there are a couple of other posts on this forum about very similar symptoms, and they are all with Line 6 devices. It would be nice if we could get to the bottom of this. Could you post your "Device info" so that we can see a bit more about your setup. (see: http://manual.auda...

Re: Fluctuating latency
You mean when you are trying to set up latency compensation (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/latency_test.html) the amount of latency keeps changing? How much is it changing by? You are aware that if you use a different audio device, or make other changes to the set-up (such as changing the sampl...

Re: Strange behavoir when saving audio file
Has the project been saved? If it has, how much free space is there on the drive where it is saved. If it's not been saved, how much free space is there on your C: drive (assuming that you have not changed the default location of Audacity's temp folder). Audacity projects can grow very large as they...

Re: need speed
Realize (and you probably already do) that the stream coming in is purely digital: straight out of a Allen & Heath QU32 mixer. It comes in via a USB cable directly to a USB port on the PC. In effect, the QU32 is a (very large) external sound card. Your computer has no idea that it is a mixing d...

Re: need speed
You do need to avoid on-the-fly resampling while recording a lot of tracks, otherwise you either compromise quality due to low quality conversion, or sacrifice performance due to high quality conversion. Ensure that you use the same sample rate throughout.
