I used a 1/4" to 1/8" converter from my drum module to a spliter (1/8" to 2 1/8" F). From the spliter, I plugged one with my headphone while the other is directly to the microphone input of my computer. I expect that is the problem. Assuming that the output from the drum machine...

even after going into alsamixer....when I press F6 to change audio devices, if I pick the USB Audio Device which is the turntable it will tell me that it doesn't have anything I change, That's normal for USB devices. Don't download Audacity (or other software) from third party websites. Always go to the official website, which in the case of Audacity is here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/
Third part download sites are notorious for spreading adware, malware and viruses.
