Re: generated track and recording issue
Try setting (in the device toolbar), "host" to MME, the recording device to "Line In (Scarlett 2i2 USB)" and the playback device to "Line Out (Scarlett 2i2 USB)". Try it with both 44100 and 48000 as the default sample rate.

Re: Two concise, simple questions
If you struggle with Ardour, you are also likely to struggle with Reaper. They are quite similar to each other - fairly typical DAWs.

Re: Link to help for those with crashes of Audacity in linux
It's known that a number of old plug-ins cause problems in Audacity. It would be good if Audacity were more robust against buggy plug-ins, but from what I hear, sandboxing plug-ins would not only be difficult, but would adversely affect the performance of all plug-ins (including "good" plu...

If I generate the randomized silence from this code the duration of silence the most oftenly appears to be 2,2 s Check your statistical analysis. To print a list of the randomised spacing to the debug window, try something like this: (defun rest () (let ((range (abs (- maxrest minrest))) dur) (prin...

Re: Filtering out background noise
Oh, I called the manufacturer of the recorder and they are the ones that recommended Audacity to me. You can use Audacity for whatever you like, but on this forum over the years. we have received support requests for all manner of "surveillance" jobs, many of which were immoral and possib...

Re: Two concise, simple questions
Why is it that Audacity isn't considered a "genuine" DAW? Usually when people talk about a DAW, they are referring to a multi-track audio recording application with real-time processing, support for MIDI and virtual instruments and "non-destructive editing". Audacity isn't that ...

Re: cannot input Chinese of Japanese at the label track
I've just tested Audacity 2.1.3 on Sierra, and it appears to accept typing Chinese characters in labels (though I don't read / write Chinese so I've no idea if they are the right characters).
Are Chinese / Japanese input methods working correctly in other applications?

It's amazing some of the things that Audacity is used for - this goes onto my mental list of more unusual usesLuk4s wrote:I use audacity to view acoustic emission recordings, it's a nice tool to get a first overview.
