Re: Recording level slider inoperative
It is normal for USB devices to not have a recording level control. If the device does not have one, then Audacity can't use it, so Audacity greys it out to show that it is not available.

Re: Automatic Backup
It is recommended that you make backups of recordings by (manually) exporting as WAV (or FLAC) immediately after recording. A potential problem with automating this would be that it could cause the hard drive to be busy when Audacity needs to write data from the recording, causing data loss in the r...

Re: Removing all metadata when exporting multiple
Before you start exporting, open "File menu > Edit Metadata" and remove all of the metadata. You can then disable the Metadata Editor from popping up during export, by deselecting the setting in "Edit > Preferences > Import / Export -> Show Metadata Tags editor prior to export step&qu...

Just looking for some concise steps to get my recording back The section in the manual about manual re...

Re: Need help with Audacity 2.1.3 OS X Yosemite
Are you able to make a ZIP archive of the project and upload it somewhere (such as dropbox) so that we can try to reproduce the problem? (some other free file sharing services are mentioned in this post: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887) (how to make a ZIP archive is des...

Re: Chain ExportMP3 isn't working
Are you applying the Chain to the current project, or to files?
Try removing all of the effects from the Chain except for "Export MP3" and see if that runs.
If it does, add the effects back one at a time and test each time. My guess is that one of the effects is crashing.

Re: Chain ExportMP3 isn't working
Open the folder ~/Library/Application Support/audacity//Chains (you may need to use the "Go" menu in Finder because Mac hides this folder) Locate the Chain file that you have made and attach it to your reply. See here for how to attach files to forum posts: https://forum.audacityteam.org/v...
