Re: Recording cuts off everything over .5 frequency
Try setting the Quad-capture device to record in mono in the Windows Sound Control Panel.

Re: Zero Play Length of Some File When Exporting Multiple
What happens if you try to play those files, or Import them back into Audacity? How many audio tracks are there in the project? Are you using point labels or region labels? expected size is about 2KB and several minuts of play length. A 2 kB MP3 at 128 kbps will be a fraction of a second long. Are y...

Re: Totally useless on a brand new Windows 10 laptop
I don't think it is "a Windows 10 issue" as there are in excess of 10 million Audacity users on Windows 10 that don't have this problem. I also had other people try it on other Windows 10 computers and they all crashed the same way. That's interesting. What is the common factor there other...

Re: Totally useless on a brand new Windows 10 laptop
On this new one I only have 2 Gb, which I think sucks That seems very low for a Windows 10 machine. Is this a new laptop? Do you use the audacity4blind mailing list? We are happy to try and help you as much as we can, but there are people on the audacity4blind mailing list that know much more about...

Re: Totally useless on a brand new Windows 10 laptop
I didn't really lose too much, as I have most of my stuff stored on an external drive. Hooray for backups :D What I did was to install the latest .exe version (2.1.3) from online. From here I hope: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ That is the official Audacity website and it links to the genu...

Re: Audacity wont run
Try removing that version completely, including any user settings ~/.audacity-data and ~/.audacity-files (both are hidden folders, and are created per user).
Then install Audacity from the Ubuntu main 'Universe' repository.

Re: Sound Activated Recording - though not selected!
This wouldn't matter except for the fact that there has always been a little hiccup in recordings between the 3rd and 4th second I've seen this happen, and the solution was to set the sample rate in the Windows Sound Control Panel to match the sample rate that I want to use in Audacity (the default...

When exporting, Audacity should default to the directory last used for exporting. It seems there's a problem with your Audacity setup if that's not happening,

Re: Compatability with Steinberg UR242 usb interface
Audacity supports WDM on Windows and Core Audio on Mac.
Audacity cannot ship with ASIO support due to licensing issues.
Note that some devices require ASIO to access all the features and provide only basic stereo in / out with WDM. Audacity is entirely dependent on the sound card drivers.
