Re: Steinberg UR-22 with audacity
once having record a track using this module, do you recommend playback through the mackie powered monitors or through the pc usb cheap speakers? I only use computer speakers when all I need is to hear the various beeps that the computer makes, or sometimes when watching YouTube videos. I never use...

Re: Steinberg UR-22 with audacity
If you are recording with a microphone, it is essential that you use headphones and not speakers while you record. If you are recording sounds that are playing on your computer (such as media playing in a web browser), then it's OK to listen on headphones or speakers. Crappy PC speakers are crappy. ...

Re: Tracks don't fit automatically after opening
Thanks for the report. Same happens here, though really the "Open" command is intended for opening projects, whereas "Import" is for importing audio files. I'm not sure if this new behaviour is intentional, and if so, what the thinking is behind it, I'll ask and see if I can find...

Re: sound activated recording doesn't function
Have you tried moving the Sound Activation Level slider all the way to the left? That should effectively disable sound activated recording so that it always records. Does that happen?

Re: Recording mix (Mic + Computer sound)
If all of the applications work with Jack, then you could use "Connect" button in QjackCtl to rout sounds wherever you want them to go. There's some information about QjackCtl here: http://libremusicproduction.com/articles/demystifying-jack-%E2%80%93-beginners-guide-getting-started-jack (G...

Re: Short Cut: Selection Toolbar
If you are able to use a mouse, zoom to a suitable level so that you can see the section of waveform that you want to work with (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/zooming.html), and then click and drag on the waveform with your mouse to make the selection. The shortcut "Ctrl+F" zooms to f...

Re: CALF effects, they do not work.
There has been an ongoing problem with Calf plug-ins, which is a shame because they are terrific effects. The problem is not unique to Audacity - I'm not sure about the status right now, but there have also been repeated crash issues with Calf plug-ins in Ardour. I think that the problem is that the...

Re: A section of audio stopped working
Try applying any effect to the part that does not play. Does the waveform disappear?
If the waveform does not disappear, you can use Ctrl+Z to undo.
If the waveform does disappear, it means that the audio data for that part of the waveform is missing or corrupt.

Re: Advice for this song?
I'm not very knowledgeable about audio editing, which is why I stuck with the Lowpass/highpass filters and the other aforementioned ones because those were the only ones that I had an idea of what they'd do. With that, it's probably best I learn more about these things before I try to edit and play...
