OK, that makes a big difference. Quite possibly there is a sample rate mismatch somewhere.

Are you able to open "E:\Dalmatians Revised Audiobook\draft_data\" in your file browser?

Audacity 1.2.6 is ancient and no longer supported.

That IS layman's terms. If you can't recover the project, then I'd suggest that you assume that the project cannot be recovered. (I've never successfully recovered a project that automatic recovery failed to recover).
