This is due to a bug in Audacity 2.2.0.

I think it's still recording just external sounds. Is it or isn't it? Try making a loud sound near the computer microphone while recording. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is a bug. The old behaviour 'should' still happen, but I see that it no longer does.
I'll log this on the Audacity bug tracker and hopefully it can be fixed soon.
