Re: seems to be stuck on pause

If you are using a recent version of Audacity, unless something has damaged or erased the data, Audacity can usually recover the project. As you say that Audacity is frozen I don't think there are any options better than forcing Audacity to quit (to open the Windows Task Manager, Alt + Ctrl + Del, t...

Re: Reversing Fade In

Probably easier to use than the Envelope tool is the "Adjustable Fade" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/adjustable_fade.html You may want to then tweak the result with the Envelope tool: reverse-fade.gif Note that absolute silence cannot be amplified (no matter how much it is amp...

Re: Compiling audacity-minsrc-2.2.1 in CentOS 7

AudioIO.cpp:(.text+0x174): undefined reference to `PaUtil_GetTime' You will need to specify the local library for portaudio because there's a fix in it that is not yet gone upstream. This is the configure command that I usually use (on Debian / Ubuntu): Debug build: ../configure --with-lib-preferen...

Re: Compiling audacity-minsrc-2.2.1 in CentOS 7

I can't see the cause of the error in the extracts that you have posted, but my guess would be missing dependencies. Check carefully through the config log for errors and warnings. There may be something here: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Developing_On_Linux In particular, ensure that libvamp ...

Re: Messages about the new version.

At present there are nightly builds for macOS https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-Mac-Nightlies.html
Hopefully there will be nightly builds for Windows in the future, and some AppImage builds for Linux (https://github.com/probonopd/audacity/releases)

Re: cut and paste

I don't know how to make a video capture on a Mac, so this is on Linux, but on Mac it works in exactly the same way:

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech

Plug-ins that are named with ".ny" as the file extension, are "Nyquist" plug-ins. These plug-ins are unique to Audacity, and are simple "plain text" files that contain computer code written in a computer language called "Nyquist". Instructions for installing N...

Re: Tape Loop effect / Decaying Tape effect

Think of Audacity as a kitchen, and sound as food. Q. "Is it possible to make this dish in this kitchen?" A. "Yes, of course it is possible. Do you know the recipe?" I don't know the recipe, or what exactly "decaying tape effect" is, but I'm sure it's possible. Perhaps ...
