The sample rate of exported files is set by the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the main Audacity window). No need to resample the track first - just set the Project rate and export. (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sele ... .html#rate)

How big is the file? (looks like it should be 49833056 bytes - approx 49 MB)
What's the smallest file that you have with this problem? Would you be able to make it available for testing via dropbox or similar?

Turn off the speakers.

Converting the sample rate will theoretically reduce the sound quality, but if both the old and new sample rates are at least 44100, the practical difference will be negligible.

This bug had already been logged with slightly different steps to reproduce, so I've added these details to the log.

My guess is that you have changed the track sample rate rather than the project rate.
