Re: U-Law Import is inverted

And here's a plug-in version: u255law-decoder.ny Note that you still have to import the BIN file as "unsigned 8-bit RAW". This plug-in just decodes it. The plug-in has a limit of 1 million samples at a time (should be more than adequate for DMX drum samples). Installation instructions are ...

Re: U-Law Import is inverted

I found some information about the format here: http://electrongate.com/software/dwav.c Here's a way that you can convert those BIN files into WAV files in Audacity: 1) Import RAW: Unsigned 8-bit, sample rate by experimentation (the drum machine would change this anyway according to the "tuning...

Re: Theme Crashes Audacity

Your image does not have the "alpha" channel. The Audacity documentation (https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Theming_HowTo) says: Transparency Use GIMP . Some other image editors do not support Alpha, and for button images you need it. So I'd suggest that you try using Gimp to edit the ima...

Re: Blank samples in web cam mic recording @384k

Try dropping the sample rate down to 44100 or 48000. Use whichever works for you best (they both have a frequency bandwidth that far exceeds old tape).

Re: U-Law Import is inverted

I'm not sure what the exact form of the BIN files is, but it's not standard ADPCM μ-law or A-law, and that's why Audacity can't decode the BIN files correctly. I can tell that it is 24kHz sample rate, signed 8-bit data with some sort of compression, but further than that we would need the format spe...

Re: Simple Question: Play from Stop Point

How do I set Audacity to play from the point I stopped at There's a couple of options: 1) Rather than stopping playback with the Stop button or spacebar, use the Pause button or "P" key. Then click the Pause button (or "P" key) again to resume (un-pause) 2) If you really want to...

Re: Merging 'Chain' and 'Export Multiple'

Export Multiple is not currently supported by Chains. Why? The underlying mechanics of Chains is a simple list structure. It was originally introduced to provide automation for a specific task of cleaning up and compressing short speech files (part of a long abandoned "Clean Speech" projec...

Re: intermittent background noise

On the mic, I have a very small dB gain - and still need to speak very close to the mic, so can't reduce it to zero or to the negative setting. Sounds like you are doing everything right, but I agree that the background noise is a bit high. Audacity does (intentionally) add a little bit of noise to...
