Re: Recording from Digital Piano USB port

I had read on a comparison site that Audacity could handle MIDI Recent versions of Audacity can play MIDI files, but Audacity does not yet have the ability to record MIDI. Basic Cut / Paste editing of MIDI files is also available, though for serious MIDI work I would recommend using a dedicated MID...

Sounds like you need to set up "latency correction". See here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/latency_test.html

Re: Bug - Audacity removed part of a track between saves

My guess is that you are using Audacity 2.2.1 and you overwrote your previously saved project by using "File menu > Save Project As..." and saving with the same name as the original saved project. If that's what happened, then unfortunately you have been bitten by a bug in 2.2.1. In that v...

Re: Equalize always crashes

I can't, because then I get this e–mail message: Sure you can. You just need to say what the 3 part version number is. For example, the current version of Audacity is 2.2.2. If you are using an old version of Audacity, then I would recommend that you try the current 2.2.2 version, which you can get...

Re: Horizontal Zoom on Audacity 2.2.2

You can't just use the mouse wheel on its own, because that scrolls vertically when you have multiple tracks. You can click on the zoom buttons (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/edit_toolbar.html#zoom_in) You can also select a part that you want to zoom in on, then click the "Zoom to Selectio...

Re: New vs. Old Noise reduction settings.

Before the Frequency Smoothing was measured in Hz (which I understood.) Now it has a "bands" number, and I'm not quite sure how this relates. Is it a ratio/percentage of your overall sample rate? I suspect that the "Hz" was based on assumptions about the sample rate, rather than...

Re: Recording from Digital Piano USB port

Audacity does not yet support recording MIDI, only audio.

Re: recording live radio

I shan't answer specifically about "play it again" as I don't know what the legal / copyright situation is (you should check), but for the general case of recording sounds that are playing on the computer, see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_comp...

Re: New vs. Old Noise reduction settings.

Mostly I leave the second two controls at their defaults: Sensitivity: 6 Frequency Smoothing: 3 Then adjust the first slider, Noise Reduction (dB), to give the required amount of noise reduction. Too high gives a bubbly metallic effect - too low and there's not enough noise reduction. For a high qua...
