Re: Are all the dropouts detected from Jack, PA, WASAPI?

Re: Clipped wav files upon opening.

I don't think the peaks should be full frame? No, normally there should be mostly space around the waveform with just a few peaks getting close to the top/bottom. The " loudness war " has tended to push more of the waveform close to 0 dB, but I'd guess that from about 50 seconds onward, t...

Re: Audio problems

My problem is that when I export the project as an mp3 it seems to sound different on various platforms. For example on a laptop, the hosting site or even really quiet on a mobile phone. Sometimes it can even sound a little 'tinny'. I'm not sure that we can do anything about that. I can play music ...

Re: Audio crackling very terribly, when it does work at all

As a side note, it's definitely encountering a buffer underrun when using pulseaudio. There are hundreds of lines stating "ALSA lib pcm.c:7843:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occurred". Yes, it's usually possible to fix that by tweaking the buffer settings, priorities, sample rates,... but muc...

Try changing the recording and playback devices in the device toolbar to the "hw" options that correspond with your sound card. Note that this will tell Audacity to use the ALSA drivers directly (bypassing other sound system "layers"), which means that Audacity will require exclu...

Re: convert negative db scaling to positive

As is common practice for "signal" levels, Audacity uses dB relative to "full scale" (full track height / full scale on the meters / maximum integer sample value). To get positive dB values, pick a lower reference level. For example, the minimum non-zero level for 16-bit audio is...

Re: Cannot use this Software!

I see that DVDdoug has given the short version of the instructions. If that's not enough, here's the detailed "long" version. I am rapidly going off the idea of recording them now lol Well let's give it a go anyway ;) 1) Plug the USB connection from the turntable into your computer. 2) Tur...

Certainly can.
Done.

I'm not following your description.
Could you give a step by step account of what currently happens, and a step by step of what you would like to happen.
