Re: How to apply chain to files in all subforms?
looks like Windows File Explorer has a search in the upper right of that window. You can search any folder and subfolder using wildcards, such as *.mpe. And it will open a new window with all the file names listed. From which you can copy those files to a new folder (thus it puts all the .mp3 files...

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
announcesample.wav That is ENORMOUSLY better than the first sample and sails through the ACX specifications with hardly any processing (I just used a "rumble filter", a tiny bit of "noise reduction" with settings of 6,6,3, and a little "soft limiting" to bring the peak...

Re: How to apply chain to files in all subforms?
No, Chains can only process files from one directory at a time.
Depending on what processing you want to do, you may be able to write a script to process files recursively using the command line audio application "SoX".

Re: Mackie CR4 through Steingberg UR22 MK2 option
The Mackie's are likely to be a big step up from computer speakers. If the speakers are connected to the outputs of the UR22, then to use them with Audacity, all you need to do is to set the UR22 as the playback device in the device toolbar . To use the monitors for playback with other applications,...

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
I want the peaks leveled at around -4 to -3 because that's what ACX recommends. I don't want -8 or -9 which is what RMS is putting it to The usual case is that after getting the RMS level right, there are peaks that are too high and you then need to use a compressor or limiter to bring the peaks do...

Re: Filename of a selected audio track at export time
Is ther any way to export a specific audio track with its track name automatically taken as exported filename ? As wacylinder wrote, no, but there are workarounds. Here's another workaround. It requires this plug-in to be installed, and assumes that you don't already have any label tracks: tracknam...

Re: Simple Loop Question
You can also loop with the "Timeline Quick Play" feature - this method has the advantage that you can adjust the loop start / end without having to manually restart loop-play. It's a lot easier to do than to describe, so have a read through this part of the manual and then play with it to ...

Re: Export Selected exports all of mp3 file
I forgot to attach the screenshot I see it now. The region from 1 minute to 6:57 is correctly "selected" (as indicated by the darker grey background). "Export Selected Audio" should export that selection. What happens if you import the exported selection back into Audacity? Do y...

Re: Middle click not opening new window on newer versions?
As far as I'm aware, the middle click behaviour that you describe was never an intended "feature". It is certainly a "platform dependent" behaviour (it has never worked like that on my Linux machine). As with other applications, Audacity does not define all Desktop behaviours. Fo...

Re: Un-solo all tracks feature
Soloing all tracks seems pointless as all tracks soloed means all tracks are playing. Muting all then unmuting all, un-solos all tracks does it not? or are you using the "Multi-track" behaviour for the solo buttons? If that is the case, just shift + click on one of the solo buttons of a so...
