Re: Editing a FLAC file without quality loss?
If you intend to apply any "processing" (apply any effects), then it is impossible to do that entirely 100% losslessly (in any program), because the processed samples have to be rounded in some way to 16-bit or 24-bit sample values. This is the case even for simple effects such as Amplify ...

Re: GUitar rig 5.1.0 plugin not registering
I don't think the Guitar Rig VST fully supports Audacity. The 32-bit version "may" work to some degree, but the 64-bit version definitely will not work at all (because Audacity on Windows is currently 32-bit only). There is a Free Guitar Rig Player available from Native Instruments. Audaci...

Re: not recognizing any device
How did you install Audacity? (If you installed it from the main repository or a PPA, then it may have been updated from a version that worked to a version that doesn't. If you installed it from a deb, or built it from source, then that will not be the case.) Do you also have a generic Linux kernel ...

Re: not recognizing any device
This is very strange. It seems that your sound system is as it should be, and you say that Audacity was working correctly, but now does not see the sound system at all. You could try resetting Audacity back to its "factory defaults". To do that, find the folder: ~/.audacity-data (where &qu...

Re: not recognizing any device
True! I forgot to say that. I checked that before and this is what appears there: ============================== Default recording device number: -1 Default playback device number: -1 No devices found and that is even after a reboot? What do you get from: aplay -l (that's "hyphen, lower case L...

Re: not recognizing any device
Try this: 1) From the "Help" menu, select "Audio Device Info". When the info appears, save it as a text file. 2) Log out and back in again (or reboot) 3) Repeat step 1. Then post the two text files with your reply (see here for how to attach a file to a forum post: https://forum....

Re: audacity for window mobile 10
Audacity is not available for mobile devices. The main reason being that the GUI toolkit (WxWidgets) on which Audacity is built, is not available for mobile platforms. Some additional information here in the FAQ: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_about_audacity.html#mobile The manual for Audaci...

Avatars have been disabled because too many people were abusing the feature for distributing spam and we don't have the resources to be constantly monitoring their usage. Available profile settings may be found in the "user control panel" (link near the top left of each forum page, just be...

Re: How is noise generated?
What is an analog white noise? One of the most common ways to generate "analogue white noise" is to reverse bias a transistor. Other methods include using saturated emission vacuum tube diodes, thermal resistors or reverse biased diodes. The main benefit of analogue circuit noise generato...
