Re: Label at Playback Position - cannot enter label text
Please be very careful if you decide to use Audacity 2.2.1 - it has this known bug in it (I think this also applies to Audacity 2.2.0): https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=99026 I think this bug was introduced in 2.2.1 ad remains in 2.2.2 - and is fixed for the upcoming 2.3.0 I ...

Re: Highlighting by darkening is illogical & impractical
The same is true (to a lesser extent) with selecting in waveform view.
It always strikes me as odd whenever I try to explain "highlighting" of a selection.

Re: Label at Playback Position - cannot enter label text
Updates have been a lot more frequent recently, but the next update is a big one (version 2.3.0), so it'll be a few months before it's released. If you can just work around the label problem for a few months, then that's probably the best thing to do. Please be very careful if you decide to use Auda...

Re: Label at Playback Position - cannot enter label text
Unfortunately it is a bug rather than a setting. It has been fixed in the development code, so the next release will have the fix.

Re: Missing Data Files. How to Restore projects
What could cause this to happen? The usual cause is "user error" (inadvertently deleting the _data folder, or moving the .aup file to a new location without its _data folder). A failing hard drive could also account for the problem, but that is rare and very likely to cause other problems...

Re: Trying to copy MiniDisc to mp3
Another thought - Windows may disable input devices if nothing is plugged in. Check that the lead from the mini-disk to your computer is securely plugged in (both ends).

Re: Trying to copy MiniDisc to mp3
Can you read Japanese? Audacity is set to use ステレオ ミキサ (Stereo Mix) for recording, which is a "virtual device" for recording whatever is playing through the ("Realtek High Definition") sound card. To record from "Line in", you need to select the real input of the sound ...

Re: Audacity Plugin Download Issue
This is a common problem on Macs. The Mac is changing the file extension. You need to change it back from ".txt" to ".ny"evlys wrote:still getting a .txt file type

Re: Audacity doesn't show both channels of stereo recording
How do you do tell or can Audacity tell if the track youve imported is stereo or mono Audacity handles this automatically. Audio files may have one or more channels. The channels are identified in the file. If the file has one channel, Audacity will import it as a mono track. If the file has two ch...
