Re: Audacity changes Sound Settings

What sound card are you using?
Where are your headphones plugged in, and how are they connected?
If you are recording, what are you recording and what equipment are you using?
Why do you think that it is Audacity doing this?

I am using Reaper and Ableton and would be happy to help test it out.
Super. Watch this thread - I'll post back here.
(It may be a few days as there's a bug that I need to fix before Audacity 3.0.1 is released.)

Re: Roll back to older version?

Hopefully a future update to 3.x.y will work well too, even if I can't provide any helpful bug tracing insights. We're finding it very difficult to reproduce this problem. We know that it is real because we have multiple reports of the same thing, but not for us. The next version will be Audacity 3...

who today learned about launching audacity as an external editor
To be fair, you never said which DAW you were using. Some DAWs handle this in a completely different way. I'm now guessing that you use Reaper, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Export/Save to location where file is located.

Update: There may be a solution on the way. In the next version of Audacity it should (hopefully) be possible for Nyquist to see where the last imported file came from. It looks like it will be possible to provide the requested functionality via an optional plug-in. This avoids problems for novice u...

I would like to see the ability to undo effects after the project has been closed as well.
It's possible that this may be added at some time in the future. The downside is that projects may become extremely large (they already tend to be big).

since linux has the problem of variable latency between sessions.
That's more likely when you use PulseAudio due to multiple layers of buffering. If you use Jack Audio System the latency should be exactly the same every time.

Re: No Instrument sound when using Behringer UMC22

I've actually got it working using the Line 1 input. The Inst 2 input just not playing! Which is fine, I'll just have to keep swapping the cables between mic and guitar! Bahhhh!! As with most USB interfaces, the two inputs are hard wired: Input 1 -> Channel 1 Input 2 -> Channel 2 An alternative to ...

Re: Customise waveform

The built-in themes don't use a "ImageCache.png". There's just numeric values in various parts of the code, and links to some of these files: https://github.com/audacity/audacity/tree/master/images

I think that recording is toast. Even the "good" parts are massively overloaded / distorted (recording level far too high).
