Re: Recognizing USB midi piano

The standard mic inputs on computers are often not very good quality (even on expensive PCs), but "may" be good enough. If the mic input is good enough, then a simple "headphone splitter" plugged into the headphone output of your keyboard should be enough to enable you to plug fr...

Re: no sound

Ensure that the Super usb Cassette is connected to the computer before you launch Audacity.

Then launch Audacity, and ensure that the in the device toolbar the recording device is set to the USB device, and the playback device is set to your normal sound card.

Re: Export tracks without losing relative time?

When exporting, Audacity treats the start of the first audio clip in a track as the start of the track. In other words, any empty space before the start of the track is ignored when exporting. The easiest way to include leading space (as silence) when exporting, is to insert some silence at the star...

Re: selecting multiple folders to convert

Audacity only supports a single folder. Batch converting across multiple folders is likely to require a specialist batch converting app, or writing your own script. There's a forum topic with some information about writing batch conversion scripts here: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f...

and see if I could extract an acapella from it Probably not. There are tools that can work quite well for removing a lead vocal provided that the vocal is panned dead centre and does not have strong stereo effect added (See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_vocal_removal_and_isolation.h...

Still, the strip remains unfilled.
Yes it does - that's the way it is designed to work, so that there is a little room for things below the track, without the need for scrolling.

Re: Enhancing Growling/Screaming/Yelling

What are other tips? Most important one: Avoid overloading the equipment. Ensure that you are using a mic that can handle the volume level (any good stage vocal mic should be OK) Ensure that the pre-amp gain is low enough to avoid overloading the mic preamp. Ensure that the recording level is low e...

Re: noise gate error "nyquist returned the value: [attack time]"

Try clicking the "Debug" button instead of the "OK" button. That will cause a debug window to open after the effect runs. Copy and paste any information shown in the debug window into your reply. Please also tell us which version of Audacity you are using (the version number is s...

Is there a key, similar to Fit to width, but in the vertical direction?
In Audacity 2.2.2:
"View menu > Track Size > Fit to Height (Shift + Ctrl + F)"

The full list of shortcuts is here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/key ... rence.html
