What sort of headphones?
What happens if you plug in the headphones before you launch Audacity?

If it's a VST plug-in, it must be a 32-bit plug-in, not 64-bit.
Audacity does not support MIDI effects, or MIDI features in audio effects.
Audacity does not support any kind of DRM or copy protection features.

Re: Volume input control

USB audio devices do not generally have software recording level adjustment, so when using a USB audio device, Audacity's input volume level control will not work.

Re: new 2.2.2 version of audacity

By default (and recommended), the 2.2.2 installer will upgrade (overwrite) the previous version of Audacity. If for any reason you need to go back to an older version, you can simply re-download the older installer and overwrite (downgrade) the 2.2.2 version. Audacity 2.2.2 is compatible with projec...

Could someone be able to explain what happened when I pressed no Do you recall what the question was that you clicked "No" to? "Cmd + S" saves the project. If the project had been saved previously, the project would have been re-saved (updated). If the project had not previously...

I just want to shift the highlighted part of the track to left 0.1 second
Split the selected audio to a new track ("Edit menu > Clip boundaries > Split New")
Then use the Time Shift tool to nudge it to the left.

Re: High and long HD usage on exit.

Another thing that comes to mind: Ensure that TRIM is enabled for your SSD (if supported).
I think Windows 10 also has an optimization tool for SSDs (a bit like "defrag" but for SSDs - Don't use defrag, that's for spinny disks only). It could be worth Googling that and running it.
