Re: Select Track button - proposal
Full disclosure: I don't personally like the "history based model" in which the actual tracks selected may depend on which track you clicked 2 hours ago. Too often I find that when I shift+click, I get different tracks selected from what I expected or intended. Personally I think that it s...

Re: Noise Reduction Profile
Because the noise profile is invisible, but it is vital for noise reduction to be effective, that the noise profile closely matches the actual noise in the track that is being processed. Both the Noise Reduction effect and Equalization need attention.

Re: Select Track button - proposal
It's been that way forever? It changed a couple of years ago. If I recall correctly, prior to that there was only Click and Shift+Click (no "Ctrl + Click"). The behavior was consistent, but one of the developers decided it should mimic the behavior in Windows File Explorer. So it was &quo...

Re: Select Track button - proposal
A subtle difference with a "button" is that it is like a "switch", it is either "latching" (like a light switch), or "non-latching" (like a doorbell). Whichever type it is, it is generally assumed that if you can switch something on with the switch, then you c...

Does your "sound settings" have tabs for "Playback" and "Recording"?
If so, what applications (if any) are listed in those tabs? (The Playback tab should have at least "System Sounds" listed.)

Re: Select Track button - proposal
The reason I am asking about all of the details is that "someone" has to decide on the details. If we don't specify the details, then we have no say. If we want a say, then we need to decide before passing it over to a developer. Of course, the developer may still decide to overrule any de...

Re: Select Track button - proposal
We do already have buttons that pop back up after teh action is done - e'g. in the Transport Toolbar: Stop, Skip to Start and Skip to End. Yes we do, and we even have inconsistency within the context of the track info box, with the Mute and Solo buttons "latching" down, and the "Coll...

Re: Select Track button - proposal
OK, so how will the button work. We like consistency, and our other buttons have up / down states. If the "Select" button is down on track 1, and you click the "Select" button on track 2, does the "Select" button on track 1 stay down or pop up? In other words, does sele...

Re: Hotkeys for Track Control Panel functions
In the next version of Audacity, which is due to be released later this month, there are many new commands that can be assigned to keyboard shortcuts. The new commands will be in the "Extra" menu (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/men ... d_menu_bar)
