Re: Help with importing MP4

MP4 is a container format. The actual codecs used to encode the "audio / video / other" data could be almost anything (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_Part_14). FFmpeg appears to be loading correctly, but is unable to extract valid audio data from that file. That could be due to the e...

Re: Pinwheel of Death

Try copying or moving the file to a "normal" storage location before attempting to import / open it in Audacity. In the dropbox folder it may still be updating.

Re: AUTOMATING inserting separate voice recordings to create a conversation output. Has anyone done it?

But I think it should be possible to solve that 'accessing of tracks one at a time' problem by just searching through a track until you hit the next sequential label number Nyquist cannot (directly) read label tracks. In the next version of Audacity (2.3.0), Nyquist has, with some constraints, acce...

Re: Is audacity.de an official domain from the audacity team?

audacity.de is a malware / scam site. I have complained multiple times to Google (who promote it through their listings), to Cloudflare (their hosting provider), but they have been allowed to operate for years, spreading malware and breaching our registered trademark. Feel free to log complaints wi...

Re: Audacity will open its GUI, but everything beyond leads to system crash

One thing I'd like to know first, though. I was used to the windows version, and that did not have significant delays other than a bit at first start-up. Re: Audacity2.2.2 not recording system sound properly

Check that the sample rate for your sound card (look in the Windows Sound Control Panel) matches the "Project Rate" in Audacity (lower left corner of the main Audacity window.
The default project rate may be set in Preferences: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/qua ... ences.html

Building Audacity 2.3.0 on Ubuntu 16.0.4

IMPORTANT: THERE IS A BUG IN AUDACITY 2.3.0 THAT CAUSES AUDACITY TO CRASH WHEN EFFECTS WITH REAL-TIME PREVIEW ARE APPLIED. AUDACITY 2.3.0 IS THEREFORE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LINUX. The official build instructions for Linux may be found here: https://github.com/audacity/audacity/blob/master/linux/build...

Re: Recording skips

So you are recording with your webcam so that you can use its built-in mic, is that right?
What happens if you record the webcam with a webcam recording app (such as guvcview)?
