The "Add label at selection" command seems to work for me. It does leave focus in the label text, but only if it is the last macro command.

Look in the Audacity Preferences, "Recording" tab, and ensure that the third option "Record on a new track" is NOT ticked.

Exporting as AIFF should give you a virtually exact copy, and does on my machine.
Can you give exact steps for me to recreate the problem?
