Re: Saving a 320kbps file as what?
To avoid sound quality loss when exporting, export in a "lossless" format. Audacity supports the following lossless formats: WAV AIFF FLAC 16-bit WAV is the most widely supported audio format - just about everything supports 16-bit WAV, though few programs support "metadata" tags...

Re: How do get rid of the little scratching sound (volume)
It seems to be in the same place each time I replay it. In that case, the noise is likely to be in the recording. If you post a short sample to illustrate the problem (just a few seconds) in WAV format , then we may be able to identify the cause. See here for how to post an audio sample: https://fo...

Re: Using LAME
Does Audacity look like the big picture on the front page of the manual: https://manual.audacityteam.org/ Note that the picture is interactive. If you hover your mouse over the big square button with the red dot, you will see a "tool tip" appear that says "Record Button". If you ...

Re: Saving a 320kbps file as what?
Audacity does not operate directly on audio files. When you "open" an MP3 file, Audacity copies the data into the Audacity project, and then you can edit and process the copied data. Audacity always works on a copy of the data, regardless of the original audio file format. Therefore the sa...

Re: Couldn’t find the project data folder
This is what happens when I double click the .aup file. That is wrong. Why is "audacity.exe" in a RAR file? Where did you get Audacity from? Re the AUP file and _data folder, I gave this as an example: C:\Users\Jrpost\Desktop\My song Fire.aup then the _data folder must be: C:\Users\Jrpost...

Re: 22050Hz files corrupt others?
So are you saying that if you import the 22050 Hz WAV file into an empty project, it sounds OK, but if you import it into a project containing other tracks it sounds muffled?
Do you mean "distorted" rather than "muffled"?

Re: Couldn’t find the project data folder
The AUP file and the _data folder must both be in the same folder.
Example, if the AUP file is:
C:\Users\Jrpost\Desktop\My song Fire.aup
then the _data folder must be:
C:\Users\Jrpost\Desktop\My song Fire_data
Example, if the AUP file is:
C:\Users\Jrpost\Desktop\My song Fire.aup
then the _data folder must be:
C:\Users\Jrpost\Desktop\My song Fire_data
