Re: recording what the computer is playing

Re: recording what the computer is playing

Ensure that you don't have "Software Playthrough" enabled (Audacity "Transport" menu).

Re: Incredibly slow import in 2.3.0

We had a report like this recently that was caused by their antivirus app scanning the project files before allowing the project to open. Perhaps the same in your case. If this is the problem, the white-listing ".au" files may fix it.

Re: Creating time delineated tracks while recording

I think a better approach would be to use a command line recorder that writes direct to disk (such as SoX) which could then be automated with a simple script or even the Task Scheduler.

or alternatively, just make one 8 hour recording and cut it up as you wish after the recording is finished.

Re: Creating time delineated tracks while recording

I can modify (save/export) the first while the second continues. Have you tried that? How are you able to hear what you are doing in the second project while the first project is recording? As far as I'm aware, Audacity macros have no way of switch from one project to another. That may be possible ...

Re: Any way to export losslessly?

"WAV" is a lossless format. The Exported WAV file from Audacity is virtually identical to the sound of the project. You can test this: 1) Open the Audacity project. 2) Export as 16-bit WAV 3) File menu > New 4) In the new project, Import the WAV file that you created in step 2. 5) Listen t...

How are you listening to the WAV files?
Have you made an audio CD yet? How are you making that?

It doesn't seem to affect the audio at all
Check that section very thoroughly. It is likely that little bits of the audio are missing from that section, which may sound crackly or stuttery.

I want to make a music CD. ...
Is there any lossless format out there that I can use?
Use "PCM (Microsoft) WAV"

For CD, you will want it as 16-bit, 44100 Hz, stereo - that's the same data format as a standard audio CD.
