Re: Files Size Issue
In terms of sound quality, there is absolutely no difference between any of: 16-bit WAV, audio CD format, 16-bit FLAC, 16-bit AIFF. Of these, 16-bit FLAC has the advantage of requiring less disk space - it is "compressed", but is compressed "losslessly" (no data is harmed during ...

Re: Installing LAME on Mac
I am using Audacity 2.3.0 on my Mac with High Sierra OS. I have downloaded LAME a million times and when I try to export an mp3, I have followed the instructions online up until it asks me to browse to locate the mp3 library. At this stage I hit a wall because I cannot find LAME or any dll file I s...

Re: unable to record in stereo
how can i record in stereo ? To record "stereo" you need to have two signal sources, such as two microphones, or left and right outputs from a cassette player. For single channel signals (such as one microphone or one guitar pickup), you need to set Audacity to record "1 channel (mon...

Re: noise pick up when recording streams.
There are several ways to do that (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tut ... ndows.html)
Which method are you using?
Do any of the methods described on that page work? ("WASAPI loopback" is usually the most reliable).

Check in the Windows Sound Control Panel and ensure that the Audient ID22 is set to run at 44100 Hz sample rate in both the Recording AND Playback device properties.

Check that Windows is fully updated. Windows 10 can become virtually unusable if it is trying to update in the background.

Re: Installing ASIO in Audacity
I'm going through all this so that I can record 4 channels at once from a Behringer UMC404HD which presents itself to Windows as two devices, one for channels 1 & 2 of the interface, and one for channels 3 & 4. Did you check if 4 channels are available with "host" set to "WAS...

Re: Crackling/Popping noise using mic
Unfortunately this is one of those sort of problems that can be due to one (or more) of many possible causes. See if anything here helps: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#skips (The thing I would go for first, is to ensure that Windows and your anti-virus are fu...

Re: Time Stamps in Labels
There is no built-in option to do that. (The high precision allows label tracks to be exported and imported) If you've got a spreadsheet application (such as Excel or Calc) then you should be able to use that to convert the times to whatever format you prefer. (this may help: https://www.excelfuncti...
