Ensure that "Software Playthrough" is disabled ("Audacity Transport menu > Transport options").

I need to use a macro to batch process audio files and remove the silence at the beginning and ending of the audio tracks. I don't want to remove any silence within the audio. How can I do this? I'm not sure what you are asking, but the exported file should sound the same as when you play the project in Audacity.

Try stepping through your script interactively so that you can see which step causes the problem (for example, prompt for a key press before each command).

Even if the problem is not related to FAT, flash drives are much less reliable than hdd or ssd. I would always recommend working on internal drives (hdd or ssd) and only use flash drives for copies.

I think koz was asking about the version that you used previously (before you " downloaded the most recent version of Audacity").

It worked on my machine, but I'm on Linux.
It was quite slow with those settings - about 36 seconds.
