Re: Audacity 2.3.0 - Effects: "Sort or Group" bug
I'm not able to reproduce this issue on Linux. I'll move this topic to the Windows board so that other Windows users are more likely to see it.

Re: Projet saving issues
Audacity breaks long tracks into small pieces so it can edit them more efficiently. When you save an AUP project file, Audacity stores all the pieces in a _data folder that has the same name as the AUP file. For example, saving "song.aup" saves the required data pieces as AU files inside t...

Re: 3 mics 1 interface not working
It depends on the device drivers.
In the device toolbar, set the "host" to "WDM", then see if you can set the "number of channels" to 3. If you can't, then change the "host" to "WASAPI" and see if you can select 3 channels.

Re: Audacity's "default" mp3 decoder produces noise
By default, Audacity uses libmad to decode MP3s. It is also possible to use FFmpeg or avconv if Audacity has been built appropriately, and a compatible version of FFmpeg / avconv is installed. To tell Audacity to use FFmpeg (or avconv) to import a file, select "FFmpeg-compatible files" as ...

Which version of Windows?
Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity")
What settings in the device toolbar?
Note that USB devices should be connected before you launch Audacity.

Re: Macbook won't recognize microcassette as line-in
A Behringer UCA 202 is likely to give better sound quality than using the laptop microphone. You will need to use a mini-jack to RCA lead. For example: https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg03063/3-5mm-stereo-to-2x-phono-0-5m/dp/AV18610 (I've got a really old UCA 202 - the label has fallen off with ...

Am I right in thinking that the only output on you microcassette is a "headphone" mini-jack socket?
