Re: Metadata lost
This may be a bug in the FFmpeg library rather than Audacity itself. It certainly seems to be related to FFmpeg, though I don't yet know if the problem is FFmpeg itself, or the build of FFmpeg made for Audacity, or Audacity's implementation of FFmpeg. This is logged on the Audacity bug tracker. Int...

If you find repeatable steps to cause a crash, do let us know so that we can look into it. There's not much we can do about a crash that we can't reproduce.

with headphones into the microphone jack :? Headphones should normally be plugged into a "headphone" socket. The "microphone" socket (if your computer has one) is for a microphone. Are you using a "headset" that has both headphones and microphone combined AND is compat...

Re: Recording won't play back
It looks like Audacity is waiting for you to respond to a dialog prompt. Check that there is not a dialog window open (perhaps hidden behind another window).
Also, your recording is way too high and will be distorted (clipped).

Re: Please help with creating 5.1 OGG Vorbis files
I guess that makes sense but what doesn't to me is why Audacity would alter that last file at all when it doesn't if I'm creating a 5.1 flac or ac3 file. Audacity uses several different encoders according to the file type and other settings. For Ogg Vorbis, the encoder is "libogg". The Og...

Re: Recording an interview
I need audacity to record both what goes into the microphone, and what comes out of the headphones. There is no "direct" way to do that because Audacity can only record from one "device" at a time. However, assuming that you are on Windows: IMPORTANT : Ensure that you are using ...

Re: Playing along backing tracks
There's something wrong about that. I need to do some experimenting. You shouldn't need to do that. In Audacity 2.3.0, by default (there's a preference setting to change this) recording to a new track requires the "Shift" key to be held down. (In old versions of Audacity, the Shift key ha...
