Re: File increases in size when exporting to same format

I still would like to know if I could do something to export to m4a as before so I have all the files with the same format. You could use Audacity's command line exporter (the "external program" option): https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/exporting_to_an_external_program.html You may nee...

Before exporting, set the "Project Rate" to 16000 (lower left corner of the main Audacity window).

I downloaded some free third-party VST plugins but they don't sound good. Especially compared to other DAWs
What are you comparing? The only real DAW that I know of for mac OS X is Logic Pro, and that mostly uses AU plug-ins rather than VST.

Re: File increases in size when exporting to same format

I got this info from the original file: That is very useful - I was about to ask you for that ;-) Overall bit rate : 24.5 kb/s That is an extremely low bit rate (very low quality, very high compression, very small file size). Then I do want to re-encode the audio and I don't mind the quality loss, ...

it would be really helpful to add this feature (assign selectable channels to level meter) to future versions of Audacity.
I have logged your "vote" for this feature.

Re: File increases in size when exporting to same format

I don't actually want to re-encode the audio Then Audacity is not the right application. In order to perform all the editing and processing features that Audacity provides, it is necessary for the audio to be uncompressed. Therefore Audacity always decodes audio on import. This cannot be avoided wi...

Re: Updated to 2.3 and now I can't record what my headphones hear

If you are trying to record what is playing on your computer, then you must record from the "loopback" option of the device that is playing the audio. So if you are playing through USB headphones, then you need to set Audacity to record from the headphones loopback.

Re: unable to find audacity-2.2.2 rpm

As the Audacityteam website states release 2.2.2 is the latest stable release for linux i cannot fathom why it should be so difficult to locate. That's down to the distribution maintainers. We provide the source code for Audacity on Linux, and each Linux distribution is free to package any version ...

On Mac the menu bar is at the top of the display, not at the top of the application window.
