Re: Modify sound like tap dancing on concrete
I have a musician colleague that tap dances. He bought a large stone floor tile for about $5 which gives a really good tap and scrape. I doubt that it is possible to get such an authentic sound by processing a "taps on board" recording.

Re: ogg file won't open
As a workaround, you can select "FFmpeg-compatible files" as the file type in the import dialog before selecting the file to import.

Re: overbub error
Try resetting Audacity: "Tools menu > Reset configuration".
Then restart Audacity.
Then check that the correct devices are selected in the Device Toolbar.
Then try a test recording.

Re: ERROR: Import Failed- this is likely caused by a malformed MP3
mp3check reports: 2308 bytes of junk before first frame header MP3 Diags reports: Frame count mismatch between the Xing header and the audio stream. Strangely, even after fixing both of those issues the file still fails to import. The file clearly has problems, but I've not yet found which problem i...

Re: AUDACITY TRYING TO ACCESS PERSONAL FILES?
My AVG anti-virus popped up 3 warnings, each for different files, saying that audacity.exe was trying to access them. 2 were Word Documents and the other was a spreadsheet, none of which had anything to do with Audacity. Did you get Audacity from the official download links: https://www.audacitytea...

Re: CAN'T OPEN ANY PROJECTS
When installing an update, it is a good idea to take at least a quick look at the list of major changes. This is especially true when there is a jump in the major version number, such as a jump from version 2.x.x to 3.x.x. There's a brief summary of the major changes in Audacity 3.0.0 here: https://...

Re: Idea for a plug-in to make editing simpler
If you had a plug-in that would convert the audio to text Just that part of the proposal would require about the same amount of development effort as the rest of Audacity in total. There are already "speech to text" apps and they are extremely complex. The best ones run as a service in th...

Re: How do I delete all audio between two 'labels'?
So much of Audacity is counterintuitive. Perhaps you should switch back to Sound Forge. So I have a section of audio I need to cut out of a long recording but I need to double click between two markers in order to select the piece to delete. No you don't need to double click on anything. 1. Click o...
