Re: Audacity and Zoom Us for Podcast

I am trying to change the recording device from Built in Microphone to Zoom audio device as I am trying to record podcasts in Zoom us and also record it via audacity. Do you mean the "Zoom US" streaming / conference service? If so, then my guess is that it will not be possible to record l...

Re: Chorus Director now too loud

The original H2 can record with 4 mic patterns: Front, 90 degrees Rear, 120 degrees Surround 2 channel (front and rear, figure of 8) Surround 4 channel (front, back, left, right) I've had problems with dropouts (stutters and clicks) when attempting to use 4 channel mode, which may be due to the flas...

Re: Chorus Director now too loud

I'm now attaching a 16 bit file that is 1.7 MB, which I think shows the problem. Thanks, that helps - quite a severe problem then. I'm trying to build up a picture of the recording environment. What is the room like? How big is it? How echoey is it? How many in the chorus? Is everyone standing at f...

Re: Chorus Director now too loud

A 10 second, stereo, 16-bit 44100 Hz WAV file is 1.8MB.
The forum will allow you to upload a WAV file that is under 2MB.

Re: Adding Set RMS and Mosquito-Killer to Batch Chain

The current version of Audacity is 2.3.0 and it is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/ (Audacity 2.3.1 is due to be released next month) In Audacity 2.3.0, Chains have been renamed to "Macros", and Nyquist plug-in can be used in them: https://manu...

Re: Extend Silences

Here's a "proof of concept" for ESTeR as a Nyquist-Macro. Sadly it isn't "much" faster. I'm not too disappointed by that as I think the speed of the pure Nyquist versions are pretty good, and this is a little bit quicker (on my machine). I've been working on Audacity 2.3.1 alpha ...

Re: Chorus Director now too loud

To hear a sample of this, go to http://oscrehearsals.blogspot.com and listen to the recording for part 1 of the Jan. 9 rehearsal, starting about 20 minutes into the recording, up to about 1 hour 4 minutes. Please post a 10 second sample in WAV or FLAC format (44100 Hz, 16-bit) of the relevant part....

Re: Audio balance issue

Have you tried the same headphones with the same computer and a different program (such as Windows Media Player)?

Re: Mix and Render -> clipping

The sum of these signals would use 1 + 1 + 0.5 = 2.5 FS Works fine with test tones, but with real-world audio the sum ("mix") of three audio tracks with peak levels of 0 dB, 0 dB and -6 dB will almost always be less that 7.9588 dB (2.5 linear). It will only sum to 2.5 if the maximum peaks...
