Re: Audacity 2.3.0 Playing Garbled Sound
Re your old version of Audacity: Which version is it? What settings do you have in the device toolbar ? What is the sample rate of the track that you are recording (look in the panel on the left end of the track) What is the format of the track (for example "Stereo 44100Hz") Same questions...

Re: Corrupted playback speed!!!
However, after saving the project file and loading it up again, playing it, the record sound so so slow.. Approximately how much slower than normal? Slow and low pitched, or slow and normal pitch? Does it also sound crackly or does it sound normal other than the speed? A short audio sample (just a ...

Re: Overdub Static - Windows 10 - Audacity 2.3.0
when I ran it back the voice was in and out, sometimes not there, Do you mean there were bits missing from the voice recording (short bits of silence)? How are you recording your voice? What equipment are you using? Try rebooting your computer, wait for it to fully boot up and settle down, then try...

Re: Improving mp3 file
Where did the recording come from? It sounds like you may have applied Noise Reduction too aggressively, causing that metallic sound. Noise reduction can be helpful when used gently to reduce low level noise, but when used too much it causes permanent irreparable damage to the remaining sound.

Re: Exponential Amplifier (Exponentiator)
I'd also suggest a different approach to normalizing. The problem with using PEAK is that it retains a reference to the sound in memory, which makes the effect heavy on RAM use, and limits the length of the selection that can be processed. Because you know that the signal should have a peak level no...

Re: Exponential Amplifier (Exponentiator)
Have you posted the correct version of this plug-in? On running it (with the Debug button, default settings and a mono track), I'm getting the error: error: unexpected EOF Also, I notice that "flr" is defined but not used. Also, you only appear to use the "multiplier" ("a&qu...

Re: Extend Silences
There appears to be a minor calculation error in this version. For practical purposes it is not noticeable, but when using with the default settings, the silences are about 20 ms too long.

Re: Trying to get recording working using bluetooth headset
The current version of Audacity is 2.3.0 and is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ (Audacity 2.3.1 is due to be released in February). We don't generally recommend recording with bluetooth devices as they are prone to connection problems, which can cau...

Re: importing wav files
Audacity can import "normal" WAV files.
The full name for a "normal" WAV file is: "WAV (Microsoft) PCM". Some oddball variants of the WAV format do exist, which may or may not be compatible with Audacity - it depends what they are.

Re: How to set default "playback speed" slider
Double click on the slider, then type the number 1 in the text entry box and click "OK". Audacity remembers the last used setting.
Note that the playback speed setting only has an affect when clicking the "Play at Speed" button, and has no affect on normal playback.
