Re: How to set default "playback speed" slider

I don't really buy that argument Steve. That's OK, we don't have to agree about everything :D but for my own use, I like the fact that Play at Speed always starts from a known (x1) position. A few other "remembered" setting annoy me, such as how "Generate" effects remember durat...

Re: Allow user to drop AUP files into the Audacity editor.

The ability to open up a native project file for an application (by dropping it into the application) is a standard MS Windows and Mac UI/UX attribute. It's perhaps not as "standard" as you suggest. For example, the "industry standard" DAW "Pro Tools" will simply not l...

Re: How to set default "playback speed" slider

to see if the Play-at-Speed setting could be "remembered" by Audacity I'd be a bit wary of that, unless there was also a very quick and easy way to reset it (right click context menu?). I think that for most users, it's like driving a car - when you start the car, it should be in neutral....

Re: Where does the mp3 macro get it's settings from

And we have to convert every AUP file to an MP3 file, for upload to Audible.com. Best to do that as you go. It's also highly recommended to make backup copies in WAV format as you work. It would be horrible if you had to re-record a chapter due to a computer glitch or human error and no backup.

Re: Increase volume of speech and reduce volume of applause

It sounds to me that using the envelope tool may be the best option regarding the distorted applause. I think that probably is. Unfortunately there's no good solution if the audience starts applauding loudly before the end of the music (hence the popularity of studio recordings without an audience).

Re: Where does the mp3 macro get it's settings from

Settings from the last export? Yes. At some time in the future, we hope it will be possible to set the export settings directly in the Macro command, but that is not currently available. There is currently a rather awkward way to set the MP3 settings in a Macro, which is to use the "Set Prefer...

Re: Batch convert folder of 100 AUP files to WAV

So there is no way to batch convert them? There's always "a way", but not always "an easy way". ;) There's no "easy way" that I know of to export audio from multiple Audacity Projects as a batch process. One way that is possible , would be to use an automation app such...

Re: Exponential Amplifier (Exponentiator)

Congratulations on creating a fully working plug-in. It's an interesting form of distortion, producing similar overtones (harmonics) to clipping, but with a gradual onset of the distortion as the level increases. Inevitably it creates a large amount of DC offset (the average level is always above ze...

Re: How to set default "playback speed" slider

I misunderstood your question. I thought you meant "how do I set it to the default", rather than "how do I change the default". The default setting for Play at Speed is not configurable. However, you could add a keyboard shortcut to the "Adjust Playback Speed" command, ...
