Re: weird issue when trying to record
Try selecting the "hw" option that corresponds to your microphone. (Unless you have additional audio devices connected to the computer, there will only be one "hw" option).

Re: weird issue when trying to record
Which version of Audacity?
Which version of Linux?
What are you trying to record?
What are your settings in the device toolbar?

Re: Volume slider issue
I suspect that it is a variation of this bug: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1534
Unfortunately we do not have a solution yet.
I'll add a note about what's happening on Bodhi Linux.

Re: Calculating times between labels
If you are only doing a few labels, then the easiest way is to click and drag on an audio track to make a selection, starting immediately above one label, and ending immediately above another. You can tell when you are exactly above the label by a vertical yellow guide line. You can then read the st...

Re: Error code -9999 attempting to record
Is Skype still running in the background? If so, shut it down completely, then restart Audacity (if it is running, shut it down and restart it), then try recording with "host" set to MME and the microphone selected as the recording device.

Re: Error code -9999 attempting to record
This is probably due to a new setting in Windows. Try this:
1) Open Settings
2) Click on Privacy
3) Click on Microphone
4)Turn on the Allow apps to access your microphone toggle switch.

Re: Audio Spectrum from Stereo to Mono

I don't see that myself: tracks000.png I do see that the spectrum is 6 dB lower than the stereo version (as expected), but it appears to be 6 dB lower at all frequencies: w...

Re: Audacity not recognizing PreSonus Firestudio on new MBP.
Look in "System Preferences > Sound", and select the "Input" tab.
Is the PreSonus Firestudio listed? If it is, select it and see if speaking into the microphone causes the meter to respond.
