No recording level

A problem of no recording level in Audacity may occur in some versions of macOS due to Apple changing the "Privacy" settings for recording devices. Note that although macOS refers to this setting as "Microphone", it applies to all recording devices, including external USB / Thund...

Re: Error, then sound disappeared from tracks

Just hoping that we're not going to have to rebuild this thing from scratch. I'm just hoping that you made backups along the way. Which version of Windows? Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity") When he re-opened the file he had been working on... What was the error ...

Re: Distorted backing track only when recording OD

So, are you saying that: 1) Audacity 2.3.0 works fine on your Laptop machine. 2) Audacity 2.1.2 works fine on your Desktop machine. 3) Audacity 2.3.0 plays very distorted at the wrong speed when recording on your Desktop machine. If that's not what you mean,or not what you have tested, please clarify.

Do you have the macro available for detecting space in speech?
There's a pair of effects:

Re: Audio Spectrum from Stereo to Mono

I noticed there are two headers; at the beginning and at the end. So my first step is isolating them from the 'audio' data block In Audacity, if you Export as "RAW", then you get a file containing only the PCM audio data (same format as WAV, but without any headers). "File > Export >...

Re: Understanding sound levels

I've used the H1n and the H2. They are both good. In my opinion, the H2 sounds a bit better, but the H1n is smaller, easier to carry around, and a bit cheaper. There are also some very good alternatives from other manufacturers, such as the Tascam dr-05 / dr-40, and a number of voice recorders from ...

A Juke box program calls the URLs according to the schedule and they play through the speakers..
The last link is the connection to Audacity...
So the "Juke box program" is acting as a kind of "virtual sound card"? I wonder how it is doing that - what's the program?

I have not been able to get an input device to be recognized by the software.
What's the recording device?
Is it recognised by Windows? (are you on Windows?)

Re: Input Level Adjustment

Hi, the maximum peak level is -3 That should be fine, so long as it doesn't go much higher. When recording digitally, it is essential to maintain a little "headroom". Unlike recording to tape where it is OK to push right up to the red, digital recording has a brick wall limit at 0 dB. If ...
