Re: skipping silence during an audio recording

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, or what difficulty you are experiencing. Perhaps you could fill out the gaps with some description.

Thanks again, and sorry for being so very dense in the first place.
Don't worry about it - I've been using Audacity for years, so I know what to look for ;)

Re: Audio lost after a crash even when .AUP file was saved

I've attached the .aup AUP files can be uploaded directly to the forum - no need to zip it.Zipping the file is useful if you are going to include the "_data" folder, but then the ZIP file will probably be too big to upload to the forum (2 MB limit). Audacity crashed. Any idea what you wer...

Re: Scrolling left of zero?

That's it but my question I guess is what does the "scrolling left of zero" off setting do? Are you referring to the setting in "Preferences > Tracks > Tracks Behaviors"? (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tracks_behaviors_preferences.html) If so, then it does what it says on ...

Re: File too big for 80 minute CDR

And, umm, no... not "nobody" can do 80. I can. The "Red Book Standard" (IEC 60908, second edition 1999-02) specifies the physical parameters and properties of audio CDs. The standard specifies a running time up to 74 minutes. However, it is possible to cram a bit more onto an au...

Re: Understanding sound levels

I have the three gain steps on the H4. It looks like this improvement may have also been rolled out to the "H4n Pro", as the manual states: Input gain −16 dB – +51 dB for both the internal microphones and external microphones. There is no 3 position "gain switch" on the H4n Pro.

No, it's a "snapshot" of the current project, with tracks rendered to perfect quality 32-bit float WAV files.
