Re: VERY loud white noise / static from SubZero SZ-AI2 Audio Interface
Sony ECM-PCV80U Is that the one with a TRS (tip, ring sleeve) mini-jack plug? Subzero SZ-AI2 audio interface And that's got 3 pin XLR microphone connectors? I think the problem is that the Sony ECM-PCV80U microphone requires a 3 to 5v bias voltage. The Subzero SZ-AI2 audio interface with phantom po...

Re: Removing scratch (static?)
I think I could split the stereo into mono and copy selections from the bottom track into the top track. I don't think that will be very successful. The visible spikes are the worst damaged parts, but there is audible damage throughout most of the audio, which is too small to see, but still sounds ...

Re: Streamline Audacity Recording & Editing for Voice Overs
Thanks for your post, but the darn button doesn't show up. That's because you are viewing an existing topic. If you click on the word "Windows" where it says: Board index < Audacity Help Forum < Windows then that will take you to the " Windows " forum board. From there you shoul...

Re: Removing scratch (static?)
It's quite easy to see the problem in a few places in the normal waveform view. Those spikes are some form of interference / corruption and shouldn't be there. If there were just one or two, then you could have used the Repair tool (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/repair.html), but as there are ...

I'm wondering why you are getting multiple strange problems. Is there something special about your computer? Is it a very old / low spec computer?

Re: Output text to file
Update: the following appears to be the most succinct way to determine the "home" folder: There's now a better and easier way (Audacity 2.3.0 or later). This allows Audacity / WxWidgets to do the heavy lifting: (get '*system-dir* 'home) To test this, you could run something like this in t...

Re: Cannot import files even with FFmpeg library/deleted audacity.cfg file
If it is necessary to force QuickTime to take your M4A files, you can do this in Extended Import Preferences, I think that advice is now out of date. Apple appear to have discontinued the QuickTime library, and now only provide a half-crippled QuickTime player. (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837) ...

Re: Envelope Tool not working?
but it becomes a lot less sensitive than the older versions. This feature has not been changed in many years, but I think I can guess why it appears to be different. Short version: I suspect that you previously had your Audacity Preferences set to display audio tracks as "Waveform (dB)" r...
