Re: Lowering specific sound without lowering background music
Try the "Channel Mixer" plug-in, available here: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Channel_Mixer This is a "Nyquist Plug-in" and the installation instructions are here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins....

Re: Cannot import files even with FFmpeg library/deleted audacity.cfg file
From the last line of Audacity log.txt: 14:58:07: Error: Failed to find compatible FFmpeg libraries. This shows that FFmpeg for Audacity is not currently installed. To install FFmpeg for Audacity, you will need to carefully follow the instructions here, to the letter: https://manual.audacityteam.org...

Re: Plug-ins won't enable
Due to trying to fix the other issues, the Audacity configuration files may have become messed up. I'd suggest removing / deleting these configuration files so that Audacity becomes reset to "out of the box" factory defaults. The three files involved are: audacity.cfg pluginsettings.cfg pl...

Re: Does Audacity work with iZotope Ozone?
According to feedback on this forum, most iZotope do not work with Audacity.
Host applications that are supported by iZotope are listed on their website. For Ozone 8, that's here: https://www.izotope.com/en/products/mas ... specs.html

Re: Audacity Broken in Mint 19.1 Cinnamon
Have you tried the official Ubuntu repository version?
Note that PPAs are not recommended unless you have a very good reason not to use the official repositories, AND you are able to fix problems that may occur when using PPA versions of software.

Re: Nyquist and Plug-Ins
So what are you wanting to do: Generate a “Raised Cosine Square Wave” from a set of data? Condition an existing signal so that it becomes a “Raised Cosine Square Wave”? Something else? What is the application? Is the use of a “Raised Cosine Square Wave” an established and proven technique for this a...

Re: Plug ins do not show up
"LAME" and "ACX Check" are very different types of plug-in. "LAME" isn't really a "plug-in" but an optional "module". The only purpose of LAME for Audacity is to allow Audacity to export in MP3 format. To install LAME successfully, you first need to ...

Re: Compiling Audacity for ASIO
Glad you got it working, but a little concerned that you say there was an incorrect step. For what it's worth, the instructions, as written, worked for me, though I initially had repeated problems getting the environmental variable to stick. Once the environmental variable was properly set, the proc...

Re: Fixing audio, not the simple stuff
You can make a "slight" improvement by: 1) Split the track to mono and delete the silent track (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/splitting_and_joining_stereo_tracks.html) 2) Apply a low pass filter, with filter frequency around 6000 Hz, 48 dB per octave (https://manual.audacityteam.org/...

Re: Audacity says another copy is running
Try rebooting the computer.
If that doesn't fix it:
If that doesn't fix it:
- Click on the "Go" menu, and choose "Go to Folder"
- Copy and paste this location: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
- Look in the SessionData folder and trash any file you find there.
