Re: digital artifacts after changing tempo
Try using the Change Tempo effect with the "High Quality" checkbox NOT selected. (For small changes in tempo on speech tracks, the "standard" algorithm will often sound better than the "high quality" algorithm).

Re: Saving a 320kbps file as what?
I didn't know that if it was 'low' from first place and saved as the same, there would still be loss. That's the thing that catches lots of people out. Encoding in a lossy format is like making a photocopy. The quality of a photocopy is always a bit lower than the original. A photocopy from the ori...

Re: Make the "Track Name" box bigger?
Some possible solutions that already exist in Audacity: 1) "Show audio track name as overlay" (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tracks_preferences.html) 2) Use one or more "labels" for your notes (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_tracks.html) 3) Add your not...

Re: Saving a 320kbps file as what?
if I don't want to loss quality Encoding in a " lossy " format such as MP3, WMA, OGG, M4A,... will always lose some audio quality. Higher bit-rates minimize the loss of quality. If you need to use a lossy format, then it's up to you to decide how much loss is acceptable to you. The lower ...

Re: How to record sound that is playing on my Apple Computer
Do you have such a software package on your machine? I've tried the "iShowU Audio Capture" software on my Mac Mini, and it worked for me. Also, I see that "Rogue Amoeba" (who were previously the company behind SoundFlower), now provide a commercial solution called "Loopback...

Looks like they are creating guest accounts on a server, with a virtualised graphical environment.
No, it can't record as there is no recording device:

Re: Distorted backing track only when recording OD
I tried..load a clean track..then hit record with NO signal..backing track again has that crackling..buzzes and digital distoruion.. That shows that your system is struggling to work in "duplex mode" (recording and playing at the same time). One thing to look at, is the "sample rate&...

Re: Web based recording possible?
Audacity is not suitable for on-line use. It is not security hardened and may expose security vulnerabilities in a public network environment. Also, it works with 32-bit uncompressed data (so requires large amounts of data throughput, and has no mechanisms for dealing with network delays. For web ba...
