Do you know what the bit-rate (kbps) is for these MP3s? (If not, this site can tell you: https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline but watch out for misleading adverts on that site).

I suspect the problem was that Audacity was already running when you plugged in the mic. When adding a new audio device (such as the USB microphone), you should do that before you start Audacity.

If you lower the pitch of a voice a lot, it will sound like a mud monster. If you raise it a lot, it will sound like a chipmunk. An Audacity project has a "project file" that has the filename extension ".aup", AND a data folder, which is named with "_data" at the end. You need both, the file and the folder. For more information, see here in the manual: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity...
