Re: Low waveforms

(1) After I downloaded the Acx-check.ny and rms-normalize.ny plug-ins, I don't know what to do with them and there are no installation instructions. Acx-check.ny and rms-normalize.ny are "Nyquist Plug-ins". Installation instructions for Nyquist Plug-ins are in the manual here: https://man...

Re: Why I can't I play the output of this file when I pass through the audio codec?

However, despite the seemingly small number of changes I made to the data, exporting the finished product using the external command option and the command ffmpeg -i - -c:a copy "%f" (i.e. passing through the audio codec), the resulting audio file is a massive 3.3GB. More importantly, I c...

Re: RoVee plug added but not usable

Which version of Windows?
Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity")
Which version of RoVee?
Have you tested with a fully installed version of Audacity 2.3.0?

Re: Why won't Audacity let me use my own ffmpeg?

Hey, I'm not sure whether this is a bug or whether the feature just doesn't exist, but Audacity doesn't allow me the option of using my own local, up-to-date installation of FFmpeg (which is in my PATH) unless I rename or delete the "FFmpeg for Audacity" folder from Program Files (I'm usi...

So what became of this?
It was a mock-up of someone's ideas back in 2016. As far as I'm aware, no code was written.

Re: Replacing Audio Track (but keeping the edits)

It's... pretty bad. Sounds like talking to someone on the phone with bad reception. But I'll just put the episode up anyway, I think you can still understand it. Perhaps you could mitigate the situation "theatrically" with some creative editing: "and tonight we are joined by Pete, on...

Re: Why won't Audacity let me use my own ffmpeg?

It's actually a bit more complicated than this, but to give a general idea of the problem: Audacity uses the FFmpeg library via its API, rather than the standalone version of FFmpeg via the command-line. If you wish to use the command-line version for exporting files, you can do so by using the &quo...

Re: Audacity, ASIO & misbehaving 'Realtek ASIO' driver

it would seem useful to me to catch runtime errors when loading an ASIO (or other) driver that results in a runtime error. As a proof of concept... Looks like a good approach. It could perhaps be useful to raise this issue on the Audacity developer's mailing list (https://www.audacityteam.org/commu...

Re: Replacing Audio Track (but keeping the edits)

When you edit in Audacity, the changes are applied to audio immediately as you do them. To apply those same edits to new audio, you would have to redo the edits to that track.

How bad is the "lower quality audio track"?
