I assume that you are logged in to the computer as djspe?

Do you get the same problem if you try to export as WAV?
How much free space is there in "Documents"?

What is the full name of the file that you are trying to save (including the full directory path)?

HDA Intel PCH: ALC3239 Analog (hw:0,0)

and the playback device to:
dmix

LAME is required for exporting as MP3. (It's not required for importing MP3, Audacity can do that without any help). Assuming that your version of Mint is based on the current LTS version of Ubuntu (Bionic):
  1. Uninstall Audacity.
  2. Remove the PPA from your sources list.
  3. Install Audacity (from the main repository)

Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and ensure that your recording device is enabled.

My guess is that Audacity is trying to record the HDMI audio instead of the microphone. Check the settings in the device toolbar and ensure that you have the correct recording device selected.

Is the default sound system "Pulse Audio"?

If you need to apply much more than 6dB boost with the Envelope, then you are likely to be running into problems with noise.
