Re: Cannot record

Input slider is frozen at 'max', can't be moved. That is normal for USB devices. Standard USB devices do not provide a way to control the input gain. The input gain should be set on the device itself. connected to Mac by USB 3.0 to USB C cable It's unlikely to be a compatibility issue, but the Lyra...

Re: Export MP3 to MIDI error message

Apparently they are spreading false information. Yes they are. MIDI "Sample Dump Standard" is NOT a MIDI file, it is audio data in a format that can be transferred over a MIDI network. It is used for such things as sending "sample data" or "loops" from one MIDI sampler...

Re: Question on changing range of y axis

Are you referring to the "spectrogram" track view? (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/spectrogram_view.html) The upper frequency range of digital audio is limited to half the sample rate (called the " Nyquist frequency "). My guess is that your digital recorder was recording wi...

Re: 4-channel recording and surround

"Dolby" is a registered trademark, and they own patents for their encoding system, so the only way to achieve "true" Dolby 5.1, would be to use a licensed (non-free) Dolby encoder. However, you can create your own 5.1 encoding ("MJZ 5.1"), which could be compatible with...

Re: Loosing stereo when exporting

If you are exporting as MP3, there is an option to force the export to mono (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/mp3 ... tions.html)
To export a stereo MP3, that option must not be selected (it's off by default).

For other formats, the problem must be something else.

Re: Local manual not recognized

That "help" folder is in the correct place (assuming that you installed Audacity from the repository). What's inside the "help" folder? The directory structure should look like this: share/ audacity/ help/ manual/ m/ man/ manual/ favicon.ico index.html quick_help.html

Re: Can not find files

Are you allowed to use thumb drives (memory sticks)? If not, are you allowed to burn a data CD? If not, are you allowed to use dropbox or Google Drive (or similar)? To continue working on the project, you need to take the whole project with you, not just the AUP file. Projects are usually too big to...

Re: Time Scale Refusing to Enable (2.3.0)

There isn't a built in effect called "Time Scale". There used to be a built in effect called "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift". "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" has now been renamed "Sliding Stretch". Have a look to see if "Sliding Stretch" is in ...
