Re: Spectral editing selection and cutting/pasting
I want this so I can then use this as essentially another set of tracks for "mixing" vs using eq, a filter, etc. "Spectral Editing" is simply a different interface for filtering. If you want to reduce frequencies below 200 Hz, you need a "High Pass" filter. If you want...

Re: Optical in - with Audient iD14
I don't have an optical input device to test, but the first thing that I would do is to open ALSA Mixer, and look to see if the device appears as a capture (recording) device. To open ALSA Mixer, open a Terminal window and enter: alsamixer To display the capture (recording) inputs, press F4. To clos...

Re: Local manual not recognized
With Audacity closed, try deleting these 3 files, then restart Audacity: ~/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg ~/.audacity-data/pluginregistry.cfg ~/.audacity-data/pluginsettings.cfg The above will reset Audacity to "factory defaults". (".audacity-data" is a hidden folder in your home di...

Re: not recognizing any device
Try this ( without starting Jack): Reboot your computer Run the two command: aplay -l arecord -l Note the returned info and include that in your reply Launch Audacity, and from the Help menu, open and save the "Audio Device Info". Attach the file to your reply. Note which, if any, options ...

Re: Auto fade for tracks
If you are working with mono tracks, you can usually avoid clicks by simply selecting at "zero crossing" points (Press the "Z" key). See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/select_menu_at_zero_crossings.html For cases where you "need" fades, you could modify the includ...

Re: How do I convert a left or right channel to mono?
Are you working on an Audacity project that was created with an earlier version of Audacity? Scratch that. It appears to be a bug in Audacity 2.2.1 that I wasn't aware of (it is fixed in the current 2.3.1 version, but that version is not yet in the repositories). There's a simple workaround: When y...

Re: not recognizing any device
Does Jack Audio System start automatically on boot / log-in, or when you launch some other application, or do you start it manually?
