Re: How to "restore" original audio speed?
To get an approximate estimation of the correct speed, you could try adjusting the "Play at Speed" control (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/play_at_speed_toolbar.html). Note that this control does not change the track audio, it is only a playback control. Once you have determined the c...

Re: ACX say my RMS is too low
Do they sound like what you were expecting to see? Yes. As expected, they are approximately in line with the figures reported by Michael Taddeo. The RMS level reported by "Contrast" (-38.31) is a little lower, than reported by Michael (-35 dB), because ACX exclude long silences when makin...

Re: Exporting labels without the frequency measurements
Ooh, that's not nice. I guess the developer never thought about anyone doing this. I shall log this as a bug. You can remove the frequencies by opening the Label Editor (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/labels_editor.html), then one at a time, double click in a frequency box, and "delete&quo...

Re: Audacity Freezing on Playback
The symptoms that you describe, match exactly with an old bug that has been logged on the bug tracker for about 8 years (still open), except that in 8 years, the problem has only been seen when using PulseAudio. The recommended workaround for the bug is to select the "hw" options in the de...

Re: ACX say my RMS is too low
Perhaps not.
At step 2, I said:
2) Import “NEW CHAPTER FIFTEEN LAME ACX MCCD.mp3”
To give us the information that we require, you must "Import" the exact same MP3 file that you sent to ACX.

Re: Audacity Freezing on Playback
According to the build.txt file in the source code (https://github.com/audacity/audacity/blob/master/linux/build.txt), Audacity 2.3.1 should be built with wxWidgets 3.1.1 I doubt that it is the cause of the problems that you are seeing, but your version of Audacity has been built against an older ve...

Re: How to put (book)marks into a whole MP3
instead of splitting I would like to let it a whole file mp3 with a kind of bookmarks. There is no "standard" way to do that, though there are some non-standard ways that work on some media players. For example, iTunes supports "chapters", but these chapter marks are not support...

Re: ACX say my RMS is too low
As an example, the file: “NEW CHAPTER FIFTEEN LAME ACX MCCD.mp3” measures at -35dB RMS, and -19dB Peak. 1) Launch Audacity 2) Import “NEW CHAPTER FIFTEEN LAME ACX MCCD.mp3” 3) Ensure that the entire track is selected ("Ctrl + A" to Select All) 4) "Analyze menu > Contrast" 5) Cli...

Re: not recognizing any device
I don't know why this isn't working for you. The devices appear to be present, but for some reason, not available. My guess is that some other program has grabbed exclusive access, but nothing you have said gives any indication of what that might be.

Re: Optical in - with Audient iD14
"Analog (hw:0,0)" will be your "on-board" sound card. "HDMI 0 (hw:0,3)" is audio via your graphics (HDMI) adaptor. "USB Audio (hw:1,0)" is the Audient iD14. This is displaying as having 10 recording input channels, and 4 output channels. Audacity does not have...
