Download and run Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe to install FFmpeg.

That should be: "Download and run ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe to install FFmpeg".

You've probably still got the first project in play, record, or pause mode. "Stop" the playback in the first project and play should be available in the other.

Are they correct? What are those settings?

What is your microphone, and how is it connected to your computer?
Where are your headphones plugged in?
What are your settings in the device toolbar?

"Editing" would be done the same way as any other audio editing.
What are you trying to do?

The microphone input of your computer is probably mono. If the microphone input is mono, and your cassette tape is stereo, then the microphone input will only hear the right channel. Ideally you should use a cassette player that has "line level" stereo outputs, and an audio device / sound ...

Perhaps you have an anti-virus program checking the audio data before it allows Audacity to access it.
