1) Was the recording "jerky"?

2) Leave the recording running for an hour or two (perhaps with your Mac near to a TV so that there's some sound for the mic to pick up). Does it sound like two recordings over the top of each other?

What is the "Loopback" that you spoke of?

Does your Mac have a microphone? If so, does Audacity work correctly if you record with the microphone?
