Re: Imaginary numbers samples
This means that's off-topic. Considering that this is the Audacity forum, this whole thread is off-topic. The spectrogram images are made of real numbers pixels Yes, but FFT is used for interpreting the pixels as sound, and FFT makes use of real and imaginary pairs. What if audio samples were allow...

Re: Garbled recordings on new Mac
1) Was the recording "jerky"?
2) Leave the recording running for an hour or two (perhaps with your Mac near to a TV so that there's some sound for the mic to pick up). Does it sound like two recordings over the top of each other?

Re: Audacity Frozen stiff
I have renamed audacity.cfg and tried to edit metadata on a virgin .wav file -- it worked! Great stuff :D In fact, everything seems to be working now. What does that tell you? I don't see anything obviously wrong in that file, and I can't reproduce the problem on Linux. I see that you have custom d...

Re: Garbled recordings on new Mac
What is the "Loopback" that you spoke of?
Does your Mac have a microphone? If so, does Audacity work correctly if you record with the microphone?
