Re: Recording Problem
If you are using Audacity 2.3.1, and the currently selected track has the right number of audio channels (mono or stereo), clicking the record button will start recording at the cursor position, or the end of the track, whichever is the later. If you wish to record before the end of the track, you n...

Re: automation using audacity
The first thing you need is a version of Audacity that has "mod-script-pipe". It is planned to include mod-script-pipe in the next Audacity release. If you don't have mod-script-pipe, then there is a pre-release "alpha" version available here: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-dev...

Re: Two copies Audacity running
The "Audacity is already running" problem occurs when Audacity is not shut down properly, leaving a "lock file" in place even though Audacity is not actually running. To fix the problem, you need to manually delete the lock file. See here for details: https://forum.audacityteam.o...

Re: AUdacity ASIO latency
Also, please give me good tutorial for jack, USB microphone and latency in Ubuntu Studio. Ensure that Jack starts and runs well without any xruns. If you need very low latency, then you will need to be running a low latency kernel, which I think is the default for Ubuntu Studio. Once that is set up...

Re: Recover a corrupted saved file on audacity
Audacity is able to import the ".AU" file if they are correctly formed. However, they should look like normal audio, which is not what I see in your screenshot. That indicates that the audio data files are corrupt. I don't think this project is recoverable.

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
Where did that "Nyquist" folder come from? That shouldn't be there (or the "Nyquist copy" link). Also, the plug-in files that are shown there (lowpass.ny, notch.ny, ...) should be in: /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/plug-ins/ not in: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/Plu...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
I'm not sure that you've got the right Plug-ins folder. It should look like this: Screenshot_2019-04-24_15-40-42.png In the Plug-in Manager, click on "Path" at the top of the table to sort the plug-ins by their location, then scroll down to where the path matches where you put the plug-in....
Re: Dropouts
Did rebooting your computer allow you to make recordings without dropouts?

Re: Is there a general chat sub-forum?
There isn't a "general chat" board, but if you wish to talk about podcasting with Audacity, then this is the correct board.

Re: Nyquist Prompt
That looks like very old code, so I think you will need to select the "Use legacy (version 3) syntax" option in the Nyquist Prompt.
