Re: Installing Audacity with custom settings
here is the section of the instructions i am trying to script OK, so it seems that what they want is to export an MP3. Did they specify the bit-rate and / or whether it needs to be CBR (constant bit rate)? at this point i'm just tryting to make the client happy I expect your client will be happy if...

Re: frequent freezes on Ubuntu 16.04
Currently, I play through a speaker set plugged into the front desktop jack. Most probably that is the (hw:0,0) option at the top of the list. Note that the down side of using the "hw" settings is that with this setting, Audacity accesses the device directly through the ALSA drivers (bypa...

Re: Installing Audacity with custom settings
OK so how to I set the default 'Project Rate' for new Projects. You need this in the audacity.cfg file: [SamplingRate] DefaultProjectSampleRate=44100 Note that the word in square brackets is important. That defines a section in the preferences. Audacity looks for the "DefaultProjectSampleRate&...

Re: Installing Audacity with custom settings
The default sample rate sets the sample rate for new projects, and can be seen in the "Project Rate" box in the lower left corner of the main Audacity window. This default will determine the sample rate when recording into a new project. If you import a file into an empty Audacity project ...

Re: Audacity 2.3.1 Doesn't See MIDI Input
Audacity is a multi-track audio editor. It doesn't do MIDI recording, although it does support playing back MIDI file (which are imported as "Note tracks" https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/note_tracks.html)

Re: Does the latest Audacity have Volume Automation?
Thanks for the feedback, and pleased to hear that you enjoy using Audacity. The dots closer to the centre of the track, when using the envelope tool, is simply so that there is a visible drag point when the envelope level goes above 0dB. The maximum amount of gain (amplification) provided by the env...

Re: Installing 2.3.1in ubuntu 14.04
Ubuntu 14.04 is very old (released in 2014), and is beyond its mainstream support (Extended security maintenance only). I'm not aware of anyone providing builds of Audacity 2.3.1 for Ubuntu 14.04. It "may" be possible to build Audacity 2.3.1 yourself on Ubuntu 14.04, but you are likely to ...

Re: Chains for Intro / Outro
Probably the easiest way would be to create a project containing only the intro (one audio clip) and the outro (a second audio clip). Save the project with a name that allows you to recognise it easily. This is your "template". To use the "template", open it in Audacity and save ...

Re: Intermittent dropouts recording onboard audio on Linux
I'm recording streaming internet radio How are you doing that? With PulseAudio Volume Control "Monitor" input (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_linux.html)? Do you listen to the recording while it is being recorded? If so, do you hear the intermi...

Re: Niquist ACX check nightmare
Most dictaphones have rubbish sound quality. Koz may be able to direct you to a couple that are capable of reasonably good sound quality. There are a number of "portable digital recorders" available that are capable of recording with high quality. These are usually marketed for recording m...
